The Montauk Chamber of Commerce is a Montauk organization dedicated to promoting Montauk's many fine businesses and establishments. Their web site lists many of the businesses in Montauk and has an good summary of the towns colorful history.
- Montauk Point Lighthouse
Montauk Point Lighthouse, is the oldest lighthouse in New York State. Authorized by the Second Congress, under President George Washington in 1792 the lighthouse was completed on November 5, 1796. This historic landmark has been part of Long Island's land and seascape for over 200 years and still serves as an active aid to navigation. The Montauk Historical Society currently manages the facility and operates the Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum and Gift Shop on the premises. The newly constructed Conway Visitor Center is the home of the Gift Shop which was moved out of the main buildings to provide space for a new museum exhibit. Visitors are allowed to climb to the top of the tower and take in the spectacular view of the surrounding Ocean and Long island Sound.
- Gosman's Dock
Gosman's Dock is a beautiful spot to spend a leisurely afternoon walking alongside Montauk Harbor inlet and watching the boats come and go. There are several restaurants with the freshest seafood and lobster you'll find, as well as some wonderful little stores where you can spend some time shopping and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. You can watch the fish being unloaded from the boats and brought right into Gosman's Fish Market, which has the freshest local seafood available and many other gourmet specialties.
